Ministry Philosophy
The
clear command of the Great Commission, Matthew 28.18-20, has been obeyed and
kept alive by the Lord's people through the ages since the time
of
Christ. The "what" of it is straightforward enough; the "how"
does not always appear to be that cut and dried.
Our doctrinal position is essentially the same as when we began. However, over the years there have been some fundamental changes in our attitudes, perspective, approach to the ministry and our on-going relationship with people. We have moved away from the legalistic, authoritarian approach which characterized the early years of our ministry.
The development from scratch of a functional church is contingent upon building and strengthening solid, stable relationships within a group. I have found myself more involved with one-on-one discipleship as the most effective means to see people develop spiritually and to be successfully incorporated as a functional part of a body. We have people now that were involved in personal Bible studies for months before they actually dared to come to my house for a church service. We will probably end up encouraging growth by division. We envision having disciples ready to handle smaller groups in homes and growing with them.
We deem it fundamental to portray the love of Jesus Christ to the world around us. We strive to exemplify unconditional love, acceptance, and a willingness to serve others, regardless of who or what they might be. We do not care about the economic status, color of skin, marital status, moral condition or reputation of the people the Lord places in our path. Each is viewed equally as an opportunity to share Christ and as a potential candidate to one day be a part of our fellowship.
